Rihanna, singer and entrepreneur, has reached a historic milestone by building two billion-dollar companies in beauty and fashion. Her brands, Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty, now have a combined valuation exceeding $3 billion, highlighting her impact as both an artist and businesswoman.
Fenty Beauty, launched in 2017, debuted with a foundation line designed for all skin tones. Rihanna focused on inclusivity and personally oversaw product development, ensuring that every woman could find a match. The brand quickly gained global attention, and within a year of partnering with LVMH, it was valued at over $1 billion.
In 2018, Rihanna expanded into fashion with Savage X Fenty, a lingerie brand centered on size, inclusivity and diverse representation. The brand’s innovative campaigns, widely praised fashion shows, and extensive product range contributed to its rapid growth. By 2021, Savage X Fenty reached a $1 billion valuation, fueled by strong revenue and a growing VIP membership.
According to AfroTech, Savage X Fenty continued to expand with retail locations across the U.S. and additional funding, totaling $310 million in venture capital. Rihanna stepped down as CEO in 2023, celebrating the brand’s success while emphasizing that the company’s impact was just the beginning.
Rihanna’s broader business portfolio also includes Fenty Skin and a developing Fenty Hair line. Combined with her music achievements; such as being the most-streamed Black female artist on Spotify, Rihanna has solidified her position as a cultural and business icon, influencing beauty, fashion, and entertainment worldwide.
