Lancey Foux returns with his highly awaited seventh album, LIFE IN HELL, a herculean, 22-track offering with some fairly hefty treats inside, nearly exactly a year after his November 2021 mixtape LIVE.EVIL. There is no doubting his work ethic or dedication at this time given that he is only 26 and has released so many albums.
Since Foux’s name is now well-known, he has more influence over collaborators, most notably Kaytranada, whose influence can be heard on three of the songs: “Luvs Killing Me Slowly,” “Lies Will Set You Free,” and “High Grade.” The remaining features were chosen similarly well: 070 Shake, who had a significant influence on Kanye West’s Ye, Pusha T’s Daytona, Nas’ Nasir, and Philadelphia-born Jah$tar—who has had a productive year culminating in his most recent album, “I Think You Got Me F*****,” Up in August has made a significant impact, and both gave good performances.
There is a wide team of producers engaged, including Bnyx, Bally, ShaunGoBrazy, 2AAB, Sverre, Azure, Benjamin Saint Fort, Lankon, Elliott Ready, Dane Burge, Cold Summers, Luca, and Kameron Hessing, but Jay Trench, aside from Kaytra, throws the biggest shadow on the boards.
With LIFE IN HELL, Lancey Foux is in peak form, and his fans will absolutely like it.
