Quavo Announces Posthumous TakeOff Collaboration “Dope Boy Phone”.

Quavo has revealed a new single featuring his late nephew TakeOff, titled Dope Boy Phone, set for release tomorrow (May 2). He shared a snippet and behind-the-scenes footage on social media, showing how the song’s cover art was created by photographing burner phones arranged in a tray.

The release marks another musical tribute following the two-year anniversary of TakeOff’s death in November 2022. On the anniversary, Quavo shared heartfelt Instagram posts with photos and captions like “Til Infinity” and “Forever In Our Hearts,” while Offset also paid tribute with his own posts.

TakeOff, born Kirshnik Ball, was fatally shot outside a Houston bowling alley at age 28. Quavo, who was present at the time, was unharmed. The tragedy prompted both of their mothers, Edna Maddox and Titania Davenport, to speak at the White House about gun violence, in a panel titled Turning Pain Into Purpose.

Quavo previously featured TakeOff on a diss track aimed at Chris Brown in April 2024. As Dope Boy Phone nears release, it stands as another powerful homage to the Migos member’s legacy.
