Pushflowers, a Boston-based indie pop group, and enduring AP favorites have returned after a lengthy break, and we’re happy to say they haven’t missed a beat. Pushflowers are releasing their first new song since 2019 right here at Allston Pudding, fresh after their return to the stage last Thursday night at Notch Brighton. The band’s distinctive sound is well encapsulated in “Peak,” which has throbbing synth loops, snappy rhythms that strike a balance between indie rock and dance music, and an uplifting chorus that breaks through the background noise.

In other words, it’s a solid pop tune from a band that is equally at home performing on a large stage as it is on the floor of a brewery. “Peak,” which was created by the consistently vivacious four-piece at Big Nice Studios, is only the first taste of a regular stream of new songs.

According to the band: “We started our musical relationship bonding over our shared love of pop music. Over the past few years, pop has been our form of escapism in late-night home dance parties and blasting music outside in empty fields. We wanted to make music that reflects the high of finally spending an evening together.”
