Pusha T Praises Ice-T For Inspiring His Rap Name And Gets A Reply

Pusha T acknowledged Ice-T as the source of his rap name, for which the gangsta rap pioneer showered accolades.

Last weekend at the 2023 Grammy Awards, King Push chatted with REVOLT on the red carpet about Ice-impact T’s on his career and how his 1988 song “I’m Your Pusher” gave him the idea for his drug-slanging stage moniker.

The West Coast rap legend actually had the opportunity to hear this from the Virginia Beach poet, who said, and he reciprocated the affection.

“I saw him standing outside of a hotel one day and I actually did tell him,” Pusha said. “I actually gave him all his flowers, right then and there, I had to … He told me he was actually a fan of my work and that was enough for me.”

On Wednesday (February 8), Ice-T hailed Pusha as one of the best rappers of all time while sharing a tape of his remarks.

“Absolutely nothing but Respect to @PUSHA_T Love is love,” he wrote. “Plus he’s one of the Best to ever do it.”

Ice-T’s second album, Power, which was released in September 1988 and reached its highest points on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts at No. 35 and No. 6, respectively, featured the song “I’m Your Pusher.”
