Prada has released a black luxury basketball designed as a collector’s item rather than for actual play. The basketball comes fastened in a custom nylon harness, featuring white-colored grooves and a triangle Prada logo in the center.
The item is priced at $975 on Prada’s website. Prada has also created matching jewelry, including earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, which replicate the basketball design on a smaller scale. The necklace, priced $25 less than the full-size basketball, provides a more accessible option for collectors.
High-fashion brands have previously released luxury basketballs as well. Chanel introduced a black and white chained basketball in 2019 for around $2,400, and Louis Vuitton, in collaboration with the NBA under Virgil Abloh, released a performance-inspired luxury basketball priced at approximately $2,000.
Prada has also offered branded sports equipment beyond basketballs, including tennis balls, soccer balls, and a $2,050 bocce set, demonstrating the brand’s interest in combining sports and luxury goods. These products are intended for collection or display rather than actual use in sports.
