Playboi Carti’s highly anticipated third studio album MUSIC has made a remarkable debut on streaming platforms. Released on March 14, 2025, the album became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day of the year, according to the streaming service’s announcement on X.
In the days leading up to the album’s release, Spotify helped build anticipation by placing billboards in major cities such as Los Angeles, New York City, and Miami. The billboards featured messages like “STREETS READY,” “SORRY4 DA WAIT,” and “I AM MUSIC MF.”
The album was preceded by the official single “All Red,” which had strong chart performance, reaching No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Carti also released multiple tracks on platforms like YouTube and Instagram, including “2024,” “BACKR00MS” featuring Travis Scott, and “H00DBYAIR.”
In addition to the album’s singles, Carti premiered unreleased songs during his performance at Rolling Loud Miami in December 2024. One standout track was “Lose You,” a collaboration with The Weeknd. Carti and The Weeknd also worked together on “Timeless,” a song from The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow album, which reached No. 3 on the Hot 100. Their previous collaboration, “Popular” with Madonna, was also a major hit.
MUSIC features a wide range of collaborations from artists such as Young Thug, Travis Scott, Future, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Lil Uzi Vert, Skepta, and Ty Dolla $ign. The album also benefits from the contributions of notable producers like Cardo, Metro Boomin, Southside, F1lthy, Ye, Cash Cobain, and Ojivolta.
The 30-track project marks Carti’s first full album in five years, following the success of Whole Lotta Red in 2020, which topped both the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Whole Lotta Red featured collaborations with artists like Ye (formerly Kanye West), Kid Cudi, and Future.
Carti is scheduled to headline Rolling Loud California on March 16, continuing a tradition he started with his 2018 debut album Die Lit. He released that album just one day before his performance at Rolling Loud Miami, and MUSIC follows suit, arriving just before Rolling Loud California.
