Playboi Carti Responds After Not Attending The Met Gala, Says He Was “Banned”.

As hip-hop artists gain greater visibility in high fashion, several rappers appeared at this year’s Met Gala, including André 3000, Future, Megan Thee Stallion, and regular attendee ASAP Rocky. One notable absence was Playboi Carti, who later addressed it on social media.

Carti posted photos of himself and his date, Giovanna Ramos, on his secondary Instagram account, claiming, “MET GALA BANNED ME FELT LIKE WE GOT KICKED OUT OF PROM BUT WE GOOD.” He also wrote, “@ft.gioo WITH ME IM A HAPPY MAN F*CK EM,” referencing Ramos, a model and blogger. Their outfits were styled by Chrome Hearts, a brand Carti tagged in the photos.

Although the looks may have loosely interpreted the event’s theme of Black Dandyism, many attendees also took liberties with the dress code. Still, fans questioned Carti’s claim of being “banned,” speculating whether he was ever officially invited, given Chrome Hearts’ limited presence among traditional Met Gala fashion houses.

Carti did not offer further explanation, and it remains unclear if his absence was due to a lack of invitation, a rejection, or other reasons.
