Peter Gunz, best known as one-half of Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz, joined Gillie Da Kid and Wallo on a new episode of the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. The Bronx native walked through his career in music, his turn to reality TV, and his most recent projects in a conversation that balanced humor, honesty, and reflection.
Peter revisited his breakout era alongside Lord Tariq, highlighting their 1998 hit “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby).” He recalled a brief but memorable moment between 1997 and 1998 when he claimed the title of “king of New York,” during the period between The Notorious B.I.G.’s death and Jay-Z’s rise.
The discussion shifted to his years on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop. Peter described the show as authentic rather than scripted, which, while more genuine, also made it personally challenging. He noted earning roughly $10,000 per episode and spoke openly about disputes with producers over money.
Candid about his personal life, Peter discussed navigating multiple relationships at the same time. He tied this behavior back to his upbringing and shared stories about how those choices caught up with him, including one instance of being recorded on an iPad during an affair.
Peter later became the first Black host of the long-running TV show Cheaters, a role he said made sense given his public history with infidelity. Though the pay was lower compared to Love & Hip Hop, he saw it as a natural extension of his persona.
He also reflected on the toll reality TV took on his family. His children, he admitted, were sometimes harassed at school and in public due to his very visible storylines.
Looking ahead, Peter shared details about his latest venture, PD Popoffs, a fitness initiative aimed at training women.
