A number of artists, including J. Cole, Childish Gambino, and others, have been invited to feature on Summer Walker’s forthcoming EP, Clear 2: Soft Life.
Walker released the album’s tracklist on Tuesday (May 16) through a lavish trailer featuring Sukihana, Sexyy Red, and herself. Cole isn’t listed as a feature, although he will supposedly appear on the EP’s opening track, “To Summer, From Cole.”
Childish Gambino also makes an appearance on “New Type,” and Solange, Steve Lacy, and John Kirby will be in charge of production on the album’s closing track, “Agayu’s Revelation.”
After being seen hanging out and shooting hoops together at Dave & Busters during Dreamville Fest weekend in North Carolina last month, Walker and Cole have announced their impending collaboration.
Summer Walker rejects Sukihana and Sexyy Red’s attempts to persuade her to try caviar for the first time in the EP’s humorous trailer.
On Friday, May 19, Clear 2: Soft Life is scheduled to release. A song from the album that Jay Versace produced for the singer of Over It was also teased. The song sounds like “Pull Up,” a seductive jam in which Summer Walker sulkily coos about how her love interest ought to drop by her apartment.
Jay tweeted the song snippet along with the phrase, “New summer produce by me,” on Twitter.
Still Over It, released in November 2021, was Summer’s final full-length album for the public. With 166,000 album-equivalent units sold, the project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making it the highest-charting album by a female R&B singer since Beyoncé’s Lemonade in 2016. Additionally, it was the biggest R&B album debut week of 2021.
Although she has received many honors, Walker has occasionally come under fire from fans for her live performances. She has previously said that her lack of energy is a result of her social anxiety.
Over the weekend, she made the decision to reply to this criticism.
You know what to me doesn’t make sense? on IG, she stated. “When people tell you to ‘use that same enthusiasm in your show sis.’ Tell me how this adds up to you. I’ve been hearing that garbage for years, but I never said anything because I thought it was so ridiculous.
