On "Don't Let The Devil In," Kasien Shares A Brand-New Batch Of Club-Rooted Rap/R&B Hybrids.

In the year 2020, South London’s Kasien released his debut album, I Found Paradise In Hell. Now, he’s back with Don’t Let The Devil In, a new mixtape.

It is virtually as concise and draws on many of the same topics as its predecessor, namely hedonism and the darker places it may lead you. It has ten tracks. Working at the crossroads of numerous different UK music genres, Kasien has been experimenting with diverse blends of rap, R&B, trap, drill, and other genres for a while now. A lot of this has appeared on the new tape, along with more dancefloor-ready moments like the D&B-driven “Damaged.”

The only featured artist on the entire album is the Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer Odunsi (The Engine). For an artist still on the rise, it’s encouraging to hear Kasien carry the majority of the 10-track album with ease. A close-knit group of producers, including Kelvin Krash, Slim Typical, Sebastian Sartor, Karma Kid, Fred Cox, P2J, Cadenza, Razor On The Track, and Payday, all contribute significantly to the album’s production.
