In this episode of ‘We Need To Talk’, Nyla Simone interviews Og Parker, a seasoned music producer from Atlanta, Georgia, who has been crafting beats for over 15 years. His journey began in 10th grade, sparked by piano lessons from his grandfather. Over the years, Parker has worked with prominent artists like Migos, Chris Brown, and PnB Rock, and spent seven years under QC Music’s label. He recently dropped a new EP titled ‘Moments’, which features collaborations with the likes of Chris Brown, PnB Rock, and DJ Drama.
Describing his personality as “a little toxic,” Parker identifies as a Scorpio. His top three rappers are Drake, Lil Wayne, and Cash Cobain. Venturing into fashion, Parker is launching his own clothing line called ‘Seven’, drawing inspiration from Pharrell Williams’ influence. He reminisces about his love for the mixtape era, citing artists such as Lil Wayne, Jeremiah, and Wale as his top picks from that time.
When working with artists, Parker prefers to allow creative freedom, steering clear of being overly directive. He talks about long nights in the studio, sometimes accompanied by a bit too much tequila, which has led to him falling asleep during sessions. Parker shares his ambitions to collaborate with more major artists, like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Drake, in person.
Looking ahead, Parker plans to release a full album next year and aims to raise the profile of music producers, advocating for greater visibility and branding power in the industry.
