NLE Choppa claims that his daughter prevented him from considering suicide.
On May 27, the rapper from Memphis posted a montage of himself enjoying time with his daughter Clover, who is almost three years old, on Instagram.
NLE Choppa wrote in the caption that his son “changed his life” at a time when he was “contemplating suicide.”
He wrote, “This is my ‘ANGEL’.” “Clover literally changed my life. I knew that longevity in my life was necessary for you to have in yours, which is why my spiritual awakening took place. Therefore, I’d like to thank Clover for helping me mature more quickly than anything else in my life.
“You Are The Reason I Want Better, I Love You, And I Live Because Of You.” When I found out you were pregnant, you gave me something to not only look forward to, but something to live for! Before you were here, I was considering suicide.
“Thank you for saving my life, my little goddess; I will always be indebted to you; I owe it all to you,” he continued. My continued presence is due to you. She will turn 3 in one month.
In these unsettling tweets from March 2020, NLE Choppa claimed he would “kill himself” on the last day of the year.
At the time, he posted, “Imma Kill Myself The Last Day Of December 2020. Y’all Better Enjoy Me While Y’all Can.”
He added: “My Music Gone Live For Me Imma” a few hours later. Be There for You. I swear… I love you all, My Music Gone Let You Know Everything You Need To Know.
A few months after his tweets, Clover was born in June of that same year.
For Father’s Day in 2021, NLE Choppa released a tribute track titled “Love Letter to My Daughter”. He stated he couldn’t visit his daughter at the time and wished to be involved in her life.
