Nicky Crawford’s Mission: Bringing Dignity And Essentials To Atlanta’s Homeless.

Nicky Crawford is aiding Atlanta’s increasing homeless population by providing essential human needs. With the assistance of Georgia Tech engineering students, Crawford transformed a school bus into a mobile laundry unit.

Crawford introduced the laundry bus at the Juneteenth Block Party on Wednesday. He collaborated with various organizations, including PAD (Policing Alternatives & Diversion Initiative), Morehouse School of Medicine, The Department of Veterans Affairs, and local barbers.

“Our goal is to provide them with enough clothes for the week so they can change regularly. Often, it’s not the people who smell, but the clothes,” Crawford explained to 11 Alive News.

In 2022, Crawford launched a mobile shower service for the homeless. Situated behind Grady Hospital, the three-stall trailer, equipped with sinks, toilets, and showers, serves over 50 people weekly. Crawford also supplies towels, toiletries, undergarments, and socks to its users.

“When you actually sit down and talk to them, you realize they’re just like a family member who’s had tough times. We can all contribute something. Maybe not this specifically, but we can all do something to help the homeless in Atlanta,” Crawford shared in an interview with WSB-TV Atlanta.

The retired administrator believes it’s his life’s mission to support the homeless community.

“God has blessed me immensely, and I knew this was my calling,” Crawford said in a 2023 interview.

Crawford established Flowing with Blessings, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the homeless with haircuts, showers, health checks, and meals.

“At Flowing with Blessings, we believe everyone deserves to feel clean, comfortable, and valued. Our services aim to empower those experiencing homelessness and help them rebuild their lives with dignity.”
