Nicki Minaj discussed her next album and creative process in a new Vogue Italia cover story published on May 27, 2025. Though she’s remained mostly quiet musically in 2025, she shared that she’s taking her time with her upcoming project.
Minaj said she has several strong songs recorded but emphasized she won’t release the album until it feels meaningful to both herself and her fans. “I’ll never be one of those people who puts out songs just to put them out,” she said. “I love music. I respect it.”
She also confirmed plans to tour again once the album is ready. Her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, launched after her 2023 album Pink Friday 2, became the highest-grossing rap tour by a woman.
Elsewhere in the interview, Minaj reflected on the viral “Did I Lie” clip from a 2018 CRWN interview. She admitted she initially disliked her appearance in the video but now sees the humor in it.
Minaj made a rare appearance at the 2025 Met Gala earlier this month, wearing a Thom Browne navy pinstripe mermaid dress. She described the look as a nod to being iconic in her own world.
Pink Friday 2 debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in December 2023, earning 228,000 equivalent album units—the biggest week for a female rap album in the 2020s.
