While several of the summer’s rap girlies had the scene beat, the queen was getting ready to remind everyone who was in charge. Pink Friday 2, Nicki Minaj’s much anticipated fifth studio album, will arrive in November.
Pink Friday 2’s title and release date were announced by Minaj around a month ago, and she has since teased it again. She checked in with the Barbz on Twitter today (July 29) and provided an update.
I’m not even kidding, you guys. “OMG barbz I love you I dooooo! Pink Friday 2 is coming in 111 days to save & restore hope in mankind!” she exclaimed. Like, you guys are going to be on [cloud emoji] [9 emoji] after you guys finish this masterpiece. You guys, I adore it so much.
She also related a unique tale about how she came up with the name of her future album.
She said, “I tweeted PF2 pregnant I believe right y’all?” This indicates that papa gave mama her name. And thus it will be blessed.
The term “Papa” relates to “Papa Bear,” the moniker Minaj gave her son, whose real name she has not shared.
Minaj did, in fact, tweet something with the hashtag “PF2” in June 2020.
The album’s title, Pink Friday 2, suggests that it is a follow-up to her debut album, Pink Friday, from 2010, but she said today that she was initially hesitant to use it.
I was hesitant to call it PF2 since the barbz were shouting at me and saying they hoped I realized those r big shoes to fill, but now I know that I’ve done her proud, she added. She will ALWAYS be “THAT GIRL!”
