Nas Says His Impressive Run Of New Music Is Result Of Catching ‘The Holy Spirit’

Nas has acknowledged that a higher power has been the impetus behind him releasing so much music over the past three years.

The Queensbridge rap legend came to Twitter on Saturday (July 22) to provide a quick explanation of his musical output and where it all actually originates.

I adore making new music, so I’m thrilled to be doing that,” he remarked. “This year has been the best of my life. I’m glad to be spreading the Holy Spirit to the entire world after catching it. Magic 2.”

Nas and Hit-Boy have worked together on five projects since 2020, the most recent of which, Magic 2, was published on Friday (July 21). The first, King’s Disease, earned Nas his first-ever Grammy win for Best Rap Album when it was released in August 2020.

The dynamic duo then made a comeback a year later to release Magic in December 2021, followed by King’s Disease II in August 2021. The third installment of King’s Disease was made available in November 2022.

God’s Son announced in June that he was eager to return to the studio, stating that he felt as though he was going through a “creative growth spurt” and that he still yearned to create music that moved people.

According to him, “I’m in one of these creative growth spurts,” he told Vanity Fair. “I’m really excited about it, and it surprises me, but I’m not too, too surprised because I was waiting for the day that I felt like this again, and I knew it would come,” the speaker said.

When asked before about his King Disease series with Hit-Boy and whether he intended to keep releasing albums one after another, he said that he genuinely enjoyed the “constant flow” of music and that he didn’t “wanna stop it once it’s flowing the way it’s flowing.”

“I just want to watch what occurs as I stick to it; it feels extremely free. And I’ve been following it, and I’ve been doing it for my entire life now,” he said. “Like, I really don’t do anything else if I’m recording. For me, it hasn’t been this way in maybe twenty years. I believe that’s what I’m thinking right now. Tomorrow, I might think about, well, seven years, or since I’ve really been in the studio, but right now, it’s been 20 years.

Nas recently released Magic 2, but he’s already “halfway through” recording his next album with Hit-Boy, according to Nas.

Nas reveals that he is already hard at work putting the finishing touches on his next project in the second verse of the song “Abracadabra,” from his most recent album.

I’m a magician; you should pay attention since my tricks are never the same. Five albums were released in 2020 when we released the first one; this run was blessed rather than cursed. We will already be halfway through the next one by the time you guys read this. Nas raps on the song, “Bless up, all the rappers we lost, I’m hopin’ they rest up.

It’s unknown whether The Illmatic Spitter is working on a third book in the Magic series, a fourth book in the King’s Disease series, or something else different. Whatever he chooses to do, he is now on a strong run.
