Filmmaker Moses Sibley has unveiled his latest project, Be Creative, a self-produced short film that offers insight into his creative journey. Announcing the project on Instagram, Sibley shared that the film was shot, written, and edited solely by him, requiring two weeks of filming and over 100 hours of editing and color grading.
The film, which premieres on YouTube, serves as both a visual and conceptual exploration of what it takes to be creative. Through a structured three-step breakdown, Sibley outlines his process, starting with the environment, where he emphasizes the importance of organizing a personal space to encourage creative thinking. His own workspace is divided into four sections: a music area, a wardrobe space, an entertainment corner, and a desk where ideas take shape.
Sibley also credits his artistic influences, citing filmmakers such as Dave Free, Wes Anderson, Cole Bennett, Hiro Murai, and John Singleton as inspirations. He explains how their work has shaped his approach, from Free’s abstract visuals to Anderson’s distinct framing.
Beyond filmmaking, Sibley played a major role in the film’s sound design, revealing that much of the soundtrack was originally composed by him. He also reflects on his early filmmaking experiences, starting with a Canon T2i camera and iMovie, learning through YouTube tutorials and hands-on practice. With Be Creative, Sibley encourages aspiring creatives to embrace the process, experiment, and refine their craft. He closes his announcement by promising more content soon, continuing his commitment to independent filmmaking.
