Mos Def May Have To Forfeit Erykah Badu Tour Money To Child's Mother

Mos Def (real name Yasiin Bey) is having some financial difficulties as a result of the mother of one of his children suing him for the proceeds of his upcoming tour with Erykah Badu.

According to The New York Post, visual artist Karima Sorel has submitted a judgment demand to the Manhattan Supreme Court ahead of the impending Unfollow Me tour. According to the publication, Sorel, the mother of one of Bey’s six children, earned $88,602.63 in back child support from the rapper, and her lawyer said she would take whatever necessary steps to have the claim honored.

The papers submitted on Thursday (June 1) stated that “this matter arises out of protracted child support proceedings in Family Court between Karima Sorel and the child’s father.” The documents also state that Sorel does not currently have Bey’s address. To have the money judgment enforced, Sorel is suing Live Nation, Ticketmaster, Outback Presents LLC, and BaduWorld Inc.

Bey and Sorel have had disagreements in the past. According to court records from March 2020, Bey was mandated to pay Sorel’s legal costs after it came to light that she had repeatedly refused to receive child support payments from Bey.

Erykah Badu and Yasiin Bey revealed their plans to tour the country for 25 cities back in April.

The Unfollow Me tour will begin on June 11 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, and it will last for three weeks. The American Airlines Center in San Antonio, Texas, will host the event’s conclusion on July 23.

A small number of tickets are still available for pre-sale through Ticketmaster, which started on April 20.

Regarding Erykah Badu, Madlib recently hinted at a collaboration with the “Tyrone” R&B singer.

On March 27, the famous producer and Talib Kweli promoted their new album, Liberation 2, by appearing on Sway in the Morning. Madlib revealed during the chat that he is currently wrapping up the long-lost Maclib project and has just started working on a full-length project with Ms. Badu.

“Right now, I’m finishing up the Mac Miller album, Planet Asia album, Erykah Badu album, and different stuff,” he stated.

“[Erykah and I] just started on an album,” he continued. We have a ton of unused material.
