Miguel Walks A Thin Line Between Life & Death On Unreleased Track ‘rope’

Miguel’s comeback to the music industry has been gradual and steady, drip-feeding fans new songs now and then. He has recently published the previously unheard single “Rope.”

The singer’s most recent song, which was released on May 31, has the San Pedro native thinking on life, death, and whether love can help someone who is struggling. Miguel referred to the song on Instagram as “UNRELEASED PT.2,” and he urged followers to see the whole song and music video on YouTube.

The singer of “Sure Thing” can be seen in the visualizer in what appears to be found video taken with a handheld camera, similar to the video for another newly revealed unreleased song named “SID.”

He sings, “All of your love/ I can’t recall/ At all,” in the song “Rope.” There is a hole in my skull that once looked to be small but is now much larger, and all of our love can no longer save me.

On the hook, he says, “I’m hanging onto nothing/I’m hanging from the ceiling/Rope around my neck/I’m hanging onto something/The walls are closing in.”

He just launched “Give It To Me,” his first solo single since 2021’s “So I Lie” from his Art Dealer Chic, Vol. 4 EP, before the two previously unheard tunes.

The San Pedro native sings seductive serenading words over a driving beat in the Scoop DeVille-produced song.

You’ve been so preoccupied with your thoughts lately, he sings, “A sweet diversion might be what you need to glow.” “Your body is in inferno, inferno, and your mind is on my, my, my/ But you deserve to let go, to let go, to let yourself unwind.”

The artist teased the single in an Instagram post before it was made available, showing him playing his red-accented guitar in a video.

With the exception of his involvement on Diplo’s 2022 single “Don’t Forget My Love,” Miguel has been conspicuously quiet in the music industry. He had recently divorced Nazanin Mandi, whom he had dated for 13 years before they were wed in 2018. He was likely suffering from the effects of that divorce.

War & Leisure, Miguel’s most recent studio album, including Travis Scott, J. Cole, Rick Ross, and other artists.

Kaleidoscope Dream, the singer’s second album, turned 10 last October. The album, which was released on September 25, 2012, sold 71,000 copies in its first week and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The singles “Adorn,” “Do You…” and “How Many Drinks?” are included.
