Method Man Opens Up To Kevin Hart About Mental Health Struggles: ‘i Was In My Own Way’

Method Man has spoken candidly to Kevin Hart about his struggles with mental illness and his new ways of thinking.

On the Comedy Gold Minds podcast, which Hart hosts on the SiriusXM radio service, Hart discussed how going to therapy improved his life in general on the May 4 episode.

He told the comic, “I was my own shadow, meaning I was in my own way. “I had to overcome my own obstacles. I realized that while I had no influence over others around me, I did have control over myself. When I was younger, one thing that really stuck out to me was that I was just a tiny dirty kid who had no control over my life—where I lived, what I ate, or where I slept. However, I had these sports that I was good at and had control over—football and lacrosse.

“So I needed those little moments where I needed to be in charge of what happens in my life,” he concluded. I had to admit to myself in the mirror that I was sick of myself. I want better for myself, I can contribute more, so let’s start there. Definitely check yourself. If you don’t, someone else will eventually check you.

The newest rapper to publicly share his fresh perspective on mental health is Method Man. Rappers have opened up more recently about their challenges, even when it was uncomfortable.

Rapper Desiigner is one such artist who has lately spoken out about his deteriorating mental health. This week, on the occasion of his 26th birthday, Desiigner revealed that he had admitted himself to a mental health facility.

Following a journey from Japan to the United States in April, the “Panda” rapper was charged with indecent exposure, and he decided it was time to get assistance.

As he arrived to the facility, the Brooklyn native sent a touching message to his supporters informing them that “Timmy Turner 2” was in the works and that he would be disappearing for a while.

He commented on Instagram on May 3: “I turned 26 today and i want to thank ya’ll for holding me down. “Last week, I checked myself into a facility to concentrate on my mental health. Prior to that, though, I had intended to surprise my supporters by releasing TIIMMY TURNER 2 this week. This song, which I recorded a while ago, describes my mental state during the previous 12 months.

I apologize for not being able to advertise it the way I would like to because I’m offline, but I just wanted to share some fresh music with you while I take some time to improve myself. I’m currently going through a difficult period, but I won’t let that define who I am.

The speaker added, “For those of you dealing with any mental health issues, it’s okay to ask for help.”
