Meta is introducing updates to its Meta AI chatbot, allowing it to “remember” information from your 1:1 chats and offer personalized responses. The new “Memory” feature stores key preferences, like dietary restrictions, and tailors future recommendations based on what you share. For example, if you inform Meta AI about your dietary preferences, it will update its Memory to suggest more relevant recipes.
This feature is now available on Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp for users in the US and Canada, after a limited rollout last year. In addition to Memory, Meta AI will also use your activity on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram to enhance recommendations, like weekend plans, based on your location and interactions.
You can delete the data Meta AI stores at any time through settings, with the option to reset the AI using the “/reset-ai” command. Meta’s announcement follows the success of the DeepSeek AI assistant app, which became the most downloaded free app on the Apple App Store this weekend, intensifying competition in the AI space.
