Maxime Hilaire Announces “Jazz & Flowers” Brunch Event on Newbury Street.

Maxime Hilaire is bringing a dose of Harlem-inspired jazz culture to Boston with a new event under his creative brand, Gangsters Buy Flowers. Announced on Instagram earlier this week, Hilaire shared details for “Jazz & Flowers,” a brunch event taking place this Sunday, April 27, at Puro Ceviche Bar on Newbury Street.

Described as a blend of live music, good food, and thoughtful design, the event marks the official in-person release of the “Jazz & Flowers” merchandise line — a concept originally designed in 2021. According to Hilaire, the idea draws inspiration from Harlem’s “Jazz in the Park” festival, an annual celebration of jazz culture in the historic New York neighborhood. “Being from Boston, I wanted to bring some of that home in an intimate way,” he wrote in the caption.

The brunch will feature a live set from Tim Hall, who is set to provide the jazz backdrop for the afternoon. Hilaire also extended a thank you to Booger Money, credited as a key collaborator in bringing the event to life.

With food, music, and merch at the core, “Jazz & Flowers” looks to establish a new kind of community experience rooted in creativity, nostalgia, and local culture. “Hoping this is the start of a beautiful series,” Hilaire added, hinting at more gatherings to come.

The event is open to the public and serves as a continuation of Gangsters Buy Flowers’ mission to explore the intersection of softness, identity, and street-informed art.
