This week, Snoop Dogg and Master P announced that their breakfast collaboration had finally secured a deal for national distribution, elevating it to new levels.
The head of Tha Doggfather and No Limit has been working on his cereal for a while; he introduced three new varieties of Snoop Cereal in December. On Martin Luther King Day (January 16), he released a video with Post Cereals staff to celebrate the nationwide deal.
“HAPPY MLK DAY! @snoopdogg and I are the first black-owned cereal company with a national distribution deal. Salute to @post_cereals for believing in diversity. SnoopCereal.com BroadusFoods.com “The more we make, the more we give.”
In the video, Master P expresses gratitude to Post’s dedicated staff and explains how nothing would have been possible without them.
“I did a record deal, I sold 100 million records, and now I’m in the cereal game,” Master P said, holding a gold spoon. “This is the new game… Here’s what diversity’s all about. But for real, I want you to know you’re the only company that stepped up, saw the vision, and saw it early.
“I know we talk about diversity and having African-American owned products on shelves being so important, ’cause we spent over a trillion dollars on it, and that’s what me and Snoop talk about. “Creating that diversity.”
Master P and Snoop have many reasons to rejoice, but Snoop Cereal almost never happens. After claiming that the cereal industry attempted to thwart their early success, the duo was initially forced to change their cereal brand, which was formerly known as Snoop Loopz.
