Russ has released his sixth studio album, W!LD, a 19-track project that marks his first full-length release since 2023. The album, now streaming across all major platforms, includes just one featured artist: Massachusett’s own DJ Lucas.
Lucas shared the news on Instagram, posting a clip of Russ speaking on a podcast about the collaboration. In the clip, Russ discusses why DJ Lucas was the only artist he included on W!LD, citing Lucas’s “extra level of authenticity” and calling him “my favorite rapper.” Russ also acknowledged how DJ Lucas’s distinctive approach to rap has been an inspiration to him, especially in areas he feels are missing from his own work.
“Shout my bro @russ for putting me as only feature on his new album wild out june 27. REAL ONE 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻,” DJ Lucas wrote in the caption alongside the video.
The collaboration appears on the track, “Gettin To It,” which stands as the album’s sole guest feature. Known for working independently and often producing, mixing, and writing his own material, Russ has kept features to a minimum across his career—but W!LD marks the first time he’s released a full album with only one guest.
For DJ Lucas, the feature places him at the center of an otherwise self-contained project. Active in the Massachusetts underground scene, Lucas’ appearance on W!LD marks a moment of visibility without compromising his identity.
