Macy's Celebrates Black History Month By Acknowledging And Honoring Impactful Changemakers Within The Black Community.

Macy’s showcases its dedication to Black-owned, founded, and designed brands while reaffirming its commitment to the Black community through a fundraising initiative for the UNCF (United Negro College Fund).

In recognition of Black History Month, Macy’s has partnered with UNCF, aiming to honor the achievements and history of Black Americans. From January 15th to February 29th, Macy’s is conducting a special round-up and online donation campaign, both in-store and online, to support UNCF. The funds raised will contribute to scholarships and essential financial assistance for deserving students enrolled in historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), fostering their educational pursuits.

As part of this initiative, customers can make online donations or round up their in-store purchases, with contributions of up to $.99, directly benefiting Macy’s Mission Every One Scholarship Fund. Additionally, Macy’s is actively promoting Black-owned, founded, and designed brands through online shopping events, aligning with its commitment to elevate and strengthen diverse businesses and suppliers.

Shawn Outler, Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer at Macy’s, Inc., emphasized the company’s dedication to showcasing the achievements of Black Americans during this winter campaign. Outler stated, “By working to support and amplify underrepresented suppliers, we aim to provide our customers access to products that meet their evolving needs.”

Macy’s has a notable history of supporting Black scholars, having raised over $3.3 million for UNCF since 2021. This funding has benefited more than 450 HBCU students through academic and emergency aid scholarships. The Macy’s Mission Every One Scholarship Fund, now in its second year, has provided over 140 scholarships for students attending accredited HBCUs in the 2023-24 school year. UNCF, an organization supporting over 60,000 students at more than 1,100 colleges and universities nationwide, acknowledges Macy’s as a crucial partner in creating brighter futures for underrepresented youth. Maurice E. Jenkins, Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer at UNCF, expressed gratitude for Macy’s unwavering commitment during Black History Month and their significant impact in supporting educational opportunities for young individuals.
