One of the greatest A&R’s in the game m80 joined Sam Buck in this episode of Bucked Up With Sam Buck. The conversation covered a wide range of topics in the music industry, including finding talent, dealing with record labels vs A&R, most expensive features and the financial aspects of being a musician.
M80 told a story about Jay-Z who was once very financially responsible as an artist, unlike some other rappers who got big advances and spent all the money. He mentioned his experience being ripped off when he had a record deal with a group called ‘Almighty’. He highlighted that these experiences where he got ripped off by companies or artists ended up being the greatest turn of events for him. M80 says that he does not care about being called a culture vulture because he has a history of giving back to the hip hop community, mentioning that he has funded a school and more.
