Linkedin Data Highlights Growing Entrepreneurial Aspirations Among Black Professionals, But Preparation Remains Key.

LinkedIn recently shared data showing that 77% of Black professionals are aiming to become entrepreneurs this year. According to Andrew McCaskill, a career expert at LinkedIn, this signals the potential for a major Black business boom. However, while many aspire to be their own boss, 63% feel unprepared.

McCaskill explains that during the pandemic, many Black workers experienced a taste of professional independence while working remotely. Now, as we navigate a recession, people are staying in their roles longer, in contrast to the “Great Resignation” when workers had more freedom to change jobs or start businesses. He emphasizes that entrepreneurship is still achievable but requires careful planning and the right tools.

LinkedIn’s new Premium Business suite aims to support freelancers and gig workers by helping them attract clients remotely. Features like the “Request Services” button allow users to generate leads directly through their profiles, posts, and messages.

McCaskill notes that this tool can help aspiring entrepreneurs make a more measured transition into business ownership, especially in a slow job market. With resources like LinkedIn Premium, individuals can explore entrepreneurial ventures more responsibly. For more information, visit LinkedIn.com.
