Check out Lil Yachty’s strange new music video for the song “sAy sOMETHINg” below, in which he confesses his love to a woman barely two weeks after they first met.
Lil Yachty is shown on a date with a woman in the opening scene of the video, which was published on Friday (January 27) and was directed by Crowns & Owls. Up until Lil Yachty tells the woman he loves her while holding a gun to his temple and reciting the song’s lyrics, everything seems to be going according to plan.
After that, viewers are taken inside Boat’s head, where he imagines a future with the woman that includes going on dates and eventually having a child. Things start to go wrong when he suddenly imagines her driving away from him and leaving the diner where they are out on a date.
Yachty then snaps back to reality, and the woman rejects his assertion without delay. She states on the video, “Mm, mm, don’t ever in your life say that to me again,” she says in the video. “That shit just made me itch. What are you talking about, ‘love me?’”
Yachty responds with a stunned look: “I was thinking we’d be together. That’s why I brought you here. This is my favorite diner, my favorite fries.”
Lil Yachty is reminded that they have just been dating for two weeks by the woman, who also describes the situation as “crazy as fuck.” Yachty persists in saying that this relationship feels different, but when he learns that the woman has been seeing someone else, the situation worsens, turning the rapper into a shell of his former self and leading him to commit a horrible murder.
On Lil Yachty’s latest album, Let’s Start Here, which was released the same day as the music video, the song is track number 10. The Atlanta native’s album, which comes after his mixtape Michigan Boat Boy from 2021, is his first studio effort since 2020’s Lil Boat 3.
