Lil Wayne To Receive Key To New Orleans During Lil Weezyana Fest.

Lil Wayne may not have secured the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown, but New Orleans is honoring him in a big way. Today, during his Lil Weezyana Fest at the Smoothie King Center, he’ll receive the key to the city from Mayor LaToya Cantrell. The festival, which celebrates local talent and supports the community, will also see Master P presenting Wayne with a career achievement award, recognizing his enduring impact on hip-hop and the city.

This gesture comes amid ongoing fan support for Wayne following the decision to have Kendrick Lamar headline the Super Bowl halftime show. Many fans have voiced their desire to see Lil Wayne share the stage with Kendrick, and there’s speculation that Kendrick might invite him for a guest performance. Recently, Cash Money legends Juvenile and Mannie Fresh expressed their enthusiasm to perform alongside Wayne if the opportunity arises.

“Of course we’d be there,” Juvenile shared on Power 106’s Brown Bag Mornings. “Kendrick is one of the best out there, so it’s something everyone wants to see.” Mannie Fresh added that their comments supporting Wayne weren’t meant as shade toward Kendrick, noting that both rappers are highly respected. Wayne’s recognition in New Orleans today reaffirms his status as one of hip-hop’s greatest and a beloved figure in his city.
