Lil Wayne is getting ready to release Tha Carter VI, set to arrive on June 6. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he described how the album reflects a new creative approach, imagining what he would sound like alongside a variety of unexpected collaborators. Confirmed guests include Miley Cyrus, U2’s Bono, and opera singer Andrea Bocelli. The album cover, revealed in late April, references Tha Carter III and Tha Carter IV, with physical copies and merchandise becoming available for pre-order the same day.
The rollout for Tha Carter VI also includes an effort to reinvigorate Wayne’s Young Money label. On a recent episode of Young Money Radio, he introduced several new signees, including Jay Jones, Allan Cubas, Domiio, Poppy, and Lucifena. These new additions join returning names like Euro, Cory Gunz, and Lil Twist. During the 40-minute episode, Wayne also discussed his connection to New Orleans, his experience in the music industry, and how he hopes to highlight both established and emerging artists through Young Money.
Ahead of the full album, Wayne released a preview project, Tha Fix Before Tha VI, in September 2023. That EP featured contributions from Jon Batiste, Euro, Fousheé, and others. As he prepares to release his sixth entry in the Carter series, nearly seven years after Tha Carter V, Wayne appears focused on both honoring his past and building for the future.
