Nas, Jill Scott, and Lil Wayne are set to lead the lineup for the 2024 Roots Picnic. Taking place on June 1-2 at The Mann in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, the annual event will feature Lil Wayne paying homage to his hometown of New Orleans alongside Trombone Shorty and PJ Morton. Additionally, there will be collaborations such as Black Thought from The Roots teaming up with Method Man and Redman on a J. Period live mixtape, the Adam Blackstone legacy experience featuring Fantasia and Muni Long, and the Go-Go Backyard Band with Scarface and Amerie.
Other performers scheduled to take the stage include Sexyy Red, Babyface, Wallo & Gillie, Wale, Robert Glasper, Yebba, Tyla, Cam’ron, Smino, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Marsha Ambrosius, October London, Funk Flex, Leon Thomas, Kenya Vaun, Julian King, BLK Odyssy, and André 3000 presenting selections from his rap-free solo flute album, New Blue Sun.
The Parkside Stage, previously known as the Podcast Stage, will host various media experiences, live podcasts, and DJ sets from Million Dollaz Worth of Game, R&B Only, U+ME+RNB, Tonight’s Conversation, Juan Epstein Podcast, World Series of Spades, and They Have the Range.
Tickets for the event will be available for presale starting Tuesday, February 20, at 10 a.m. ET with the access code ALUMN124, followed by general sales opening on Friday, February 23, at 10 a.m. ET.
Last year’s Picnic featured performances from Usher & the Roots, Ms. Lauryn Hill (with a surprise Fugees reunion), comedian Dave Chappelle, Lil Uzi Vert, and more.
