Lil' Kim Is Connected By Coi Leray's Sophomore Album 'coi'

In her announcement of her impending self-titled sophomore album, Coi Leray emulated Lil’Kim, and her graphics all but crashed the Internet.

Coi will be released on June 23 on all streaming services, according to Benzino’s daughter, who confirmed this on Twitter on Friday, May 19. The teaser cover is evocative of the classic Hardcore poster from the pioneer of female rap.

Coi Leray’s artistic integrity has been questioned for doing so, in part, it seems, because she is a Hip Hop “nepo baby” as the daughter of the former Source co-founder and Love & Hip-Hop star. While it is common for up-and-comers to channel the energy of legends throughout their careers, Coi Leray’s has drawn criticism.

She recently responded to critics who dared to cast doubt on her artistic legitimacy by doing so.

The young rapper responded to those who had questioned her trustworthiness in a string of tweets on May 9 while also praising herself for not caring what critics had to say about her, on or off stage.

I’m that girl, lol. True life. Offline. inside the booth. on the platform. on the carpet of red. a radio station. Overseas. That is exactly how it is. Shout out to my bitches who “dgaf what nobody has to say and stay true to themselves,” she tweeted.

The controversy began after the rapper from “Players” tweeted in a mysterious manner on May 8 about how the music industry was “oversaturated.”

Leray, though, may be the individual to whom she is truly referring, as one person pointed out. “Can’t help but feel that said saturation was beneficial to Coi. Wrong messenger, good message,” the user tweeted.

Coi was drawn to the tweet, and she remarked that her “versatility and stage presence” set her apart from her contemporaries.

“Y’all are bugs. My adaptability and charisma on stage. My statistics. My collaborations. Deals with My Brand. fashion student. I am a dancer. Sing. Rap. It’s okay if you can’t notice it right away. I don’t need you to notice right away,” she wrote.

The story does not, however, end there. Even though what she mentioned about her powers is true, another individual asserts that she still gains from the “oversaturation” that she claims to detest.

“Which is all true, but because of the oversaturation, you got recognized and gained notoriety. You genuinely become famous because to TikTok music. You have talent like a crap sis, but don’t pretend that you didn’t take use of the opportunity to make your shit pop, the user tweeted.
