Lil Durk Reacts After Inspiring African Fan To Convert To Islam

After listening to Lil Durk’s music, one of his biggest African followers decided to join the Muslim faith.

An African fan was pictured kneeling in an all-white thobe with his hands spread in a recent Instagram post. It is unclear what nation on the continent they are from. He then leans forward and cleanses his face and arms in a motion that symbolizes self-purification. The wall decal for Lil Durk’s rap group OTF (Only The Family), which was visible on the fan’s wall in the viral video, is another interesting detail.

The fan’s film included the song “Pelle Coat” from Durkio’s most recent album, Almost Healed, stitched onto it.

Lil Durk sings over the catchy music, “Mornin’ time I pray to Allah/Forgive me for the shit that I did/Let me get closer to my kids/Can you protect all of my friends.”

The OTF rapper thanked the fan for his conversion on his Instagram stories after learning about the message.

The Chicago rap legend remarked, “Everything happens for a reason. This is what makes me feel good.”

Lil Durk has discussed becoming a Muslim in his music and has been spotted in several of his videos donning Islamic clothing.

Recently on social media, Durk has been expressing a lot of affection for his followers. On May 30, Lil Durk shared a fan’s new tattoo on his Instagram story, which included text and the cover of the book Almost Healed.

Durk captioned the image with “he made history,” likely in reference to the fact that they were the first person to get the album tattooed on their body, approving the ink.

The Friday (May 26) release of Almost Healed is anticipated to sell between 125,000 and 150,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.

With those numbers, the project is anticipated to have the biggest debut of the week at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

With seven of the top 10 slots on Apple Music’s U.S. chart and more than 41.5 million streams on Spotify, almost Healed has already established a strong presence on streaming services. This is more than double Durk’s previous high.

Aside from 2020’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” with Drake, which also peaked at No. 2, Durkio’s “All My Life” duet with J. Cole recently debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it his joint highest-charting track.
