Lil Bibby Says Juice Wrld 'hated' The Song That Started His Career.

Lil Bibby claimed that Juice WRLD “hated” “Lucid Dreams,” despite the fact that it propelled him to fame and resulted him the late rapper’s first diamond plaque.

On Thursday, May 18, HipHopDX spoke with the head of Grade A Productions at a Los Angeles event honoring Juice’s 2018 first album Goodbye & Good Riddance’s five-year anniversary.

Early on, according to Bibby, he told Juice WRLD that “Lucid Dreams” was his best song. But the rapper himself wasn’t as enthusiastic about the song.

“You believe so?” Juice had asked, Bibby recalled, after admiring “Lucid Dreams.”You want to know something, he said. I only sat down and gave that song some serious thought. Therefore, I responded, “Well, you know what that means.” Probably best to take a seat and consider another tune.

“A few days later, he got in touch with me and said, ‘Aye Bibby, check this out – I wrote this one.’ He played it for me, and it was sort of wimpy and mid-range. I responded, “Juice, you know what? Just keep doing what you’re doing.

Bibby went on to say, “[Juice] despised that song. Always, he detested it. Just that—he trusted me.

Lil Bibby’s conviction in “Lucid Dreams” was confirmed when the song, which was produced by Nick Mira and reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, established Juice WRLD as one of Hip Hop’s biggest artists. The song has received over two billion Spotify streams and was later awarded a diamond certification by the RIAA in February 2022.

In other parts of his conversation with DX, Bibby related yet another bizarre tale about Juice’s recording practices and described how his 2019 smash song “Robbery” came to be after he single-handedly crushed a Hennessy handle.

“The second time I met him, he recorded ‘Robbery,'” Bibby remembered. He drained the entire bottle and declared, “This Hennessy is strong as fuck,” much like the song’s opening line. The entire song was then freestyled. He was actually consuming the entire bottle of Hennessy, which made it legendary.

“I never in my life witnessed that sh*t… Since I can’t even take a sip of Hennessy straight, I couldn’t believe it. However, he drank the entire large bottle straight.

The estate of Juice WRLD commemorated the five-year anniversary of Goodbye & Good Riddance on Friday (May 19) by reissuing the record with the two new posthumous songs “No Good” and “Glo’d Up.” Watch both of them below:
