Lil Baby and his nonprofit, The Jones Project, hosted their fifth annual Back to School Fest at West End Production Park in Atlanta, welcoming more than 4,000 families for a day of support and activities. The venue was turned into a large festival space where students received free school supplies and uniforms. The event was done in collaboration with The Jessie Rose Project, The Athlete’s Foot, Slim & Husky’s, Fanatics, Dr. Bombay Ice Cream, and Zaxby’s.
Lil Baby attended the event, spending time with children and posing for photos. The day included carnival rides, games, a bounce house, face painting, and grooming services such as haircuts and braiding. Food was provided on-site by Zaxby’s, Slim & Husky’s Pizza, and Dr. Bombay Ice Cream.
Local officials also showed their support, including Atlanta City Council members Andrea Boone, Michael J. Bonds, and Marci Overstreet, as well as Eshe Collins from the Atlanta Board of Education. The event drew students from kindergarten through high school.
Lil Baby spoke about his motivation, telling The Atlanta Voice that many students lack basic items like shoes and school supplies, which can affect their direction in life. A parent at the event, Yolanda Hill, expressed appreciation for his presence, noting that unlike some artists, Lil Baby stayed and personally engaged with the community.
The Back to School Fest began in 2021, with Lil Baby aiming to give back to families and youth in his hometown.
