Without even pulling off his shirt, Kid Cudi made his back tattoo publicly visible for the first time.
Mr. Solo Dolo shared a photo of a miniature version of himself on social media on Friday, June 9. What stands out the most about the topless figure of Cudi singing into a microphone is the enormous tattoo on its back that he insists is indeed real.
It’s the same Moon Man animation that was used for Cudi’s Man on the Moon trilogy box set, which was released last year, if the design appears familiar. It was produced by sculptor and artist KAWS, who is located in New York, and served as the cover art for the six-LP set.
The Cleveland, Ohio native acknowledged that the tattoo on his back was actually his. I’ve had it for several months. This is only a little preview of it.
The sample figurine of Kid Cudi is the first in a series that will include him in various stances and attire. The replica might have easily been mistaken for the real Cudi if it hadn’t been set up on a kitchen counter because of the incredible attention to detail in the posted photographs.
“This is a test of one in a series of figurines I’m making. I have a ton of more positions and fits. When I first saw this, I was completely awestruck by the attention to detail. Amazing, truly,” he stated in his tweet.
The striking similarity of the statue also greatly surprised fans. “lmfao I thought that was the real you that’s amazing af,” one Twitter user wrote in response. “Yoooo! That’s crazy! So true to life, lol.
Another user commented: “I thought you had a cheetah or sum in your household for a sec.” in reference to the normal-sized cat in front of the tiny, lifelike figure, which undoubtedly helped put things in perspective.
This is hardly the first instance of a Hip Hop artist being portrayed as a doll. To mention a few, mini-me artists like Travis Scott, MF DOOM, Playboi Carti, Nas, J Dilla, and Ghostface Killah have all existed.
The Lonely Stoner has released “Porsche Topless,” the lead single from his upcoming ninth album Insano, which may be his last.
“Never in my life have I created a project this compelling. On Instagram Live earlier this year, Cudi said of the album, “I just know that this shit is going to move you sitting, listening to these mixes. “I’m so fucking stoked because y’all are going to fuck with this stuff in such a significant way.
I just wanted to get on here and let y’all know that I’m not going to let y’all down, he continued. At the moment, I’m not playing, but this is going to be the album of the year. This is not a joke at all. Tell everyone you know, please.
