Kid Cudi Promises Joint Album With Travis Scott Will Be ‘A Moment For The Culture’

Kid Cudi seems to have changed his mind because he has assured fans that his on-again, off-again collaborative record with Travis Scott is still coming.

After shocking the public by making a cameo on Scott’s UTOPIA album single “LOOOVE,” Cudi emphasized on Friday (July 28) that the Scotts’ collaboration project is now again on schedule.

When asked about the status of the record on a Travis Scott fan page, Cudder replied, “Its def happening at some point.” Don’t even stumble.

Fans shouldn’t count on the album to be released by the end of the year, though, as Cudi wants to make sure the record has the right mood and is a “moment for the culture.”

Kid Cudi said, “He just dropped.” “And we must take our time to do it correctly. I want to write a ton of songs, choose the best ones, and truly make it a cultural event. We only get one first album, so it has to be the worst. UTOPIA! for the time being.

Since the Ohio native claimed in December that he believed “the moment has passed” for a collaborative LP, the good news of a joint album from Cudi and Trav, whom he refers to as Head of the Rager Department, came as a surprise.

When he promised Scott cameos on his upcoming Insano album while performing at a festival in June, some people were still hopeful.

Scott has long credited Cudi as an inspiration, and their 2016 song “Through the Late Night” from Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight marked their first collaboration.

In April 2020, at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, they collaborated once more on “THE SCOTTS,” which soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. A collaborative project proposal gained traction shortly after then and was said to have lost steam in the years that followed.

Cudi said on Twitter that La Flame’s recent meeting with him had caused a change of heart and set the wheels in motion for a collaboration.

“I assumed it wasn’t going to happen because Trav and I hadn’t discussed it since the single so many years ago. And I enjoy working when the time is perfect, and I felt that the appropriate moment had passed,” he added.

But Trav later made a public statement, at which point I thought, “Well, shit, I guess we’re doing it. I asked him to confirm, and he was w it.”

In a brief cameo, Kid Cudi appeared on UTOPIA’s “LOOOVE.” Actually, the Pharrell-produced song’s genesis dates back to 2014.

Scott revealed a portion of the psychedelic beat for “LOOOVE” on social media shortly after the release of his Days Before Rodeo mixtape, according to Genius.
