Kevin Durant Praises Wale’s Craftsmanship and Longevity After Rockets Win

Kevin Durant and Wale have a long-standing connection, dating back to 2008 when Durant appeared in voice skits on The Mixtape About Nothing while emerging with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Their DMV-rooted relationship resurfaced this week when Durant was asked about Wale’s new album Everything Is a Lot following the Rockets’ overtime win against the Orlando Magic.

Durant credited the rapper for maintaining a strong work ethic nearly two decades into his career, calling Wale a “craftsman” committed to improving his skills. He added that watching another veteran continue to refine his craft remains inspiring and said he’s grateful to know him. Wale reposted the clip with a brief salute, while journalist Chancellor Johnson noted that “Michael Corleone” is Durant’s favorite track on the album.

Durant continues to perform at an elite level at age 37, helping lead the Houston Rockets to a 9–3 start after scoring 35 points in Sunday’s win. Meanwhile, Wale released his eighth studio album at age 41, marking another chapter in their parallel careers built on longevity, evolution, and mutual respect.
