Kendrick Lamar’s GNX has broken the record for the longest-running No. 1 album on Billboard’s rap chart, holding the top spot for 22 weeks since its release last November.
The previous record was set by Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, which led the chart for 21 weeks. Kendrick’s latest milestone reflects the sustained popularity of the project and adds to a growing list of achievements.
Alongside the chart success, Lamar and SZA are concluding the North American leg of their Grand National tour, which has now become the highest-grossing co-headlining tour of all time.
Through 23 shows across the U.S. and Canada, the pair have grossed over $256 million, with an average attendance of 48,000 fans and a per-show average of $11.1 million.
During a stop in Maryland, SZA praised Kendrick onstage, calling the tour the biggest moment of her life and crediting him for elevating her career. Despite initial doubts and anxiety, she said she now embraces the uncertainty of performing.
The tour success follows GNX reaching new streaming highs, with Kendrick’s “Luther” also surpassing a billion streams earlier this month.
