Kendrick Lamar and SZA have secured the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the second consecutive week with their song Luther, part of their GNX collaboration. The track’s continued success marks Kendrick Lamar’s sixth chart-topping hit and SZA’s third.
Following Kendrick’s record-breaking Super Bowl halftime performance on February 9, his song Not Like Us returned to No. 1. However, he replaced himself at the top when Luther debuted at No. 1 last week. Both tracks were performed during the Super Bowl halftime show, contributing to their chart success.
In addition to their success on the charts, Kendrick and SZA are preparing for their Grand National Tour, which begins on April 19 in Minneapolis, MN, and concludes on June 18 in Landover, MD. The tour will make stops in several major cities, including Houston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Chicago. It will also pass through Kendrick’s hometown of Los Angeles, SZA’s birthplace of St. Louis, and Toronto.
SZA recently spoke about her admiration for Kendrick’s approach to music and creativity. During an interview, she expressed interest in working on a full-length album with him, calling him a genius and crediting his influence on her creative process. While no joint project has been officially announced, the two artists will have opportunities to collaborate further while on tour.
