Kendrick Lamar Breaks Eminem’s Record on First Night of Grand National Tour With SZA.

Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s Grand National Tour is off to a record-breaking start, as Kendrick now holds the title for the highest-grossing rap concert ever. The tour’s opening night in Minneapolis on April 19 earned over $9.1 million, according to Touring Data.

The show drew more than 47,000 fans with tickets averaging $192.70. This officially surpasses Eminem’s 2019 Melbourne performance, making Kendrick’s set the most lucrative in Hip Hop concert history. It’s also the first rap concert to cross the $9 million mark.

The Minneapolis show was the largest audience ever for Kendrick and SZA outside of a festival. The night also stirred headlines after Kendrick seemingly took aim at Drake over the ongoing legal dispute surrounding “Not Like Us.” He mocked the lawsuit filed against Universal Music Group, implying Drake was dodging the battle through the courts.
