Kendrick Lamar once again leads the rap charts with his SZA collaboration “Luther.” The track has reclaimed the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart nearly a year after its release.
The song replaces “All the Way” by BigXthaPlug and Bailey Zimmerman at No. 1. Since dropping in November 2024, “Luther” has spent a total of 34 weeks at the top. It also logged 13 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the second longest-running No. 1 hip-hop song of all time, behind Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.”
Kendrick’s ongoing feud with Drake continues to draw attention. At the Emmy Awards, Tina Fey referenced the rivalry while presenting Outstanding Live Variety Special, where Kendrick was nominated for his Super Bowl halftime show. “If Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime special wins I’m really going to hear it from Drake. And Drake and I are supposed to play pickleball tomorrow,” Fey joked. Kendrick lost the award to Saturday Night Live.
Drake recently responded with his new track “Dog House” from his upcoming album Iceman, rapping: “F*** a money tree, I’m a cash cow / If I ain’t give a f*** then, I don’t give a f*** now,” a direct reference to Kendrick’s “Money Trees.”
Meanwhile, in their ongoing legal battle, Drake was granted redacted access to Kendrick’s UMG contract. Judge Jeanette Vargas ruled that the document contained confidential business information, allowing portions to remain sealed while still permitting Drake limited access.
