The NFL announced on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28) that Jon Batiste will perform the national anthem at Super Bowl LIX, set for Feb. 9, 2025, in New Orleans. The five-time Grammy winner joins a lineup of Louisiana natives, including Trombone Shorty, Lauren Daigle, and Ledisi, as part of the pre-game entertainment. Ledisi will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at the Caesars Superdome.
NFL head of music Seth Dudowsky celebrated the lineup, highlighting the performers’ role in showcasing New Orleans’ musical heritage. “This year’s artists will bring the energy, soul, and vibrant sounds of the region to a global stage,” he said.
Batiste’s appearance follows the success of his Beethoven Blues album, which marked his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical Albums chart. Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar will headline the halftime show, executive produced by Roc Nation and Jesse Collins, with creative direction from his pgLang agency. Lamar called rap music the “most impactful genre” and promised a memorable performance.
Super Bowl LIX will air on FOX, with the NFL season continuing until the big game.
