Jo Saza has released the live version of his track “Hoop Dreams,” now available on YouTube. The artist took to Instagram to share a preview of the performance, directed by G. Vani Films, writing, “I did a thing, hope you like it 🥂 • ‘Hoop Dreams Live Version’ OUT NOW on YouTube, check the link in my bio.”
The live rendition features an ensemble of musicians, including Julian Pavone on drums, Hahnlin Noonan on guitar, Kentaro Mashimo on bass, RJ Walters on keys, and vocalists Nemo Pontes and Chelsea Temier. Lentz Martin served as the musical director and arranger for the performance.
This release adds a new dimension to “Hoop Dreams,” showcasing the track in a live setting with full instrumentation as he raps about childhood aspirations and struggles: “6 years old with a ball in his hand & a dream in his eyes / It’s all that he had / Prayin’ for the hoop dreams that once belonged to his dad / Young baller tryna be his own father, cuz the real one got 25 & his own problems / Livin’ with a single mother & 3 brothers, tryna get a dollar to feed empty stomachs. He grows older, he puts in the work.”
You can stream the performance on YouTube.
