Van Buren Records artist, Jiles, has announced a new solo project titled Griot, set for release on July 30. The 11-track project is produced entirely by Grubby Pawz, a longtime collaborator within the collective.
In a recent post, Jiles revealed the full tracklist for Griot, giving listeners a preview of what to expect from the upcoming body of work. The project’s title carries multiple meanings as the artist noted in his post. In West African tradition, a griot is a storyteller, poet, or musician who preserves oral history.

The word also appears in Haitian cuisine, where “griot” refers to a marinated and fried pork dish. Jiles references both definitions in the rollout, signaling layered cultural inspiration behind the name.
With the full tracklist and collaborators now shared, anticipation continues to grow ahead of the album’s release. Griot will be available on July 30 on all major streaming platforms.
