JID kicked off 2024 in his signature style. The Dreamville rapper released “30 (Freestyle)” on YouTube as a New Year celebration, following up on last year’s exclusive “29 (Freestyle)” on the platform.
He announced on Instagram, “jus put some raps on YouTube to start the year off right!!” In “30 (Freestyle),” JID showcases his lyrical prowess over a beat produced by Conductor Williams, Christo, and Tane Runo, revealing that he crafted the freestyle while on tour in Poland.
Expressing his excitement about the music and gratitude for the opportunity, JID shared, “30 is fye bro, just raw raps about whatever came to my head, I’m excited about music and inspired/blessed to be doing this sh*t fr.”
The track features JID’s braggadocious swagger as he delivers lines like, “If all these rats racin’, I’m comin’ in last place / Snakes in the grass, I haul ass at a fast pace / Offense, autographed the ball, I pass great / I’m an athlete, turn your favorite rapper to the ashes in an ashtray.”
Accompanied by a trippy visualizer, JID presents the freestyle from his windowsill, with hard-hitting lyrics and stop-motion-esque visuals flashing across the screen. As of now, “30 (Freestyle)” is exclusively available on YouTube and has not been released on any DSPs.
