Jasmine Luv Opens Up About Faith, Perseverance, and Her Breakthrough Role on Churchy

In the latest episode of the Let’s Try This Again podcast, host B. Simone sits down with actress and content creator Jasmine Luv to explore her journey from corporate life to entertainment.

Jasmine, who began creating content on Vine in 2015 while working as an accountant at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Columbia, South Carolina, has emerged as part of the first generation of Black female internet influencers. Alongside creators like Desi and Vina, she built a following that eventually allowed her to earn more from brand partnerships than her corporate salary.

Despite holding a master’s degree in accounting, Jasmine always dreamed of acting. She moved to Los Angeles in 2016 at age 26-27 to pursue her goals, navigating significant fears about failing and the financial uncertainty that came when a brand partnership ended unexpectedly just months after her arrival.

The actress credits her faith for sustaining her through nearly a decade of rejections in Hollywood. Initially expecting to find success within a year, Jasmine faced nearly ten years of continuous “no’s” before landing her first series regular role. She emphasized the importance of trusting God’s timing, avoiding unhealthy comparisons, and understanding that repeated rejection is not a personal failure.

On the personal front, Jasmine met her husband in 2019 at their apartment complex gym. After a year of dating, they became engaged, marrying two years later. She highlighted the significance of individual healing before entering a healthy relationship, reflecting on prior toxic relationships, including one that lasted eight years.

Jasmine’s recent breakthrough comes with her role as Bri on the BET Plus series Churchy, created by Kev On Stage. In the show, Bri is a restaurant owner and love interest to Pastor Corey, described by Jasmine as funny, spicy, confident, and independent.

In addition to her entertainment career, Jasmine and her husband run Barretts Automotive, an automotive car care product line, expanding her footprint in entrepreneurship.

Throughout the interview, Jasmine emphasized key messages around faith, perseverance, and timing. She encouraged listeners to maintain belief in their goals despite obstacles, to prioritize personal growth and communication in relationships, and to embrace opportunities for positive representation of Black love and entrepreneurship.

The episode underscores Jasmine Luv’s journey from corporate accountant to successful entertainer, highlighting her dedication, resilience, and the central role faith has played in her personal and professional life.
