Assisting in the production of a documentary about the life of the late, legendary R&B singer Luther Vandross is Jamie Foxx.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Foxx will produce the movie alongside Colin Firth’s Raindog Films and his entertainment company Foxxhole Productions, with Dawn Porter serving as the director. Additionally, Sony Music Publishing and the Premium Content Division of Sony Music Entertainment (SME) will be involved.
Foxx declared, “Luther is one of our G.O.A.T.s.” He is among the best singers in music history. Being a member of the team that will spread the word about this amazing story is a true honor.
Porter told the publication, “Like so many others, I have always admired Luther’s music, but I had no concept of the depth and range of his craft. “I believe that the amount of accomplishments he made in his terribly brief life will astonish many. To be able to tell his genuine tale is a joy.
A biopic based on Craig Seymour, a seasoned music journalist, and Luther: The Life and Longing of Luther Vandross, Vandross’ own autobiography, is also in development.
One of the best R&B vocalists in music history was Luther Vandross. Most people are familiar with the eight-time Grammy Award winner from his classic songs like “Never Too Much,” “Here and Now,” and “Dance With My Father.” Hip Hop artists have sampled his songs extensively, most notably Twista and Kanye West on the 2004 album “Slow Jamz.”
In order to create the song, West used a sample of the 1981 ballad “A House Is Not A Home” by Luther Vandross, with Jamie Foxx performing the chorus.
