Ja Rule has shared that he’s about to become a grandfather. The 49-year-old rapper revealed the news during his appearance on Sherri, telling host Sherri Shepherd that his daughter, Brittney Aitken, is expecting her first child with husband Tevin Aitken.
“I’m about to be a grandfather,” he told the audience, laughing that the phrase “don’t even sound right.” Ja went on to describe how Brittney delivered the surprise — by gifting him and his wife Aisha Atkins a box containing a sonogram and a card reading, “You are now grandma and grandfather.”
“She said, ‘I got a gift for you guys,’” Ja recalled. “We thought it was a real gift — I mean, that is a real gift, don’t get me wrong! She had the camera on to catch our reactions. It was an amazing moment.”
Brittney later confirmed the news on Instagram, posting, “SURPRISE!!!!! This little bean is having a little bean,” alongside a clip showing her parents’ reaction. “Momma and daddy can’t wait to meet you.”
The announcement follows a milestone year for the family — earlier this year, Ja walked Brittney down the aisle at her wedding.
